Update Manager broken?

I also seem to be having the same problem. When I click on the synaptic
package manager in System -> Administration, it asks for my admin
password, then nothing happens. It did the same thing when updater said
I had 9 updates available, so I just typed sudo apt-get update in the
commandline and that worked, as does sudo apt-get install someProgram,
but I still get nothing whenever I click on SPM. I even restarted. At
least the commandline never fails, I guess. :)

This is what I get when I typed the command suggested in this thread:

$ gksudo update-manager

/usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages/apt/__init__.py:17: FutureWarning: apt
API not stable yet

warnings.warn("apt API not stable yet", FutureWarning)

Any suggestions?
