xserver-xorg-core update breaks X

i fixed it by downloading the dapper alternate CD, manually mounting it,
running apt-cdrom add -m -d=/cdrom/ and then editing my sources.list and
commenting out all repos except the CD. then i apt-get remove
xserver-xorg-core and then apt-get install xserver-xorg-core.
