AFAIK, you don't have to use the clumsky diskpart tool from Windoze.
Instead, some Linux distributions allow you to resize your Windoze
partition in order to leave free space where to install Linux.

Also, you can use GParted to shrink nearly any partition or
filesystem, so that's another way of making up space for your Linux
partition. Also, keep in mind that most people will recommend to have
at least two partitions for Linux: one partition used to store the
boot files (like GRUB loader files and the kernel itself), one for the
root filesystem. Also, you can place you swap on a partition and, in
that case, you'd need 3 partitions for Linux,.
