In case anyone's wondering, the patched packets are located 'here'
(http://hermies.net/libfreetype6_2.2.1-0.1ubuntu1_i386.deb) and 'here'
(http://hermies.net/libfreetype6-dev_2.2.1-0.1ubuntu1_i386.deb) (thanks
to eradicator006 for originally posting these at the Compiz forums).



After (re)installing the "problematic" updates, I just downloaded those
files and ran a

(restarting X may be needed). Fonts seem well once again.
