thanks.  All good suggestions but I'm exceedingly twitchy about hosting 
my information anywhere but on servers under my control.  Even though 
it's a pain in the ass to keep them running sometimes, if something goes 
wrong, I have only myself to blame versus raging impotently at the 
asshole's who just lost my data I didn't back up because I couldn't.

right now I'm looking at Borg calendar.  It might work, it might not.  I 
will let people know.
