Hi Gary!

Start with "man iwconfig" and note some of the other commands
available as well.  If I recall (my daughter stole back her laptop)
iwconfig (perhaps -a or -A) reports the number of dropped packets and
the signal strength and noise levels.  Note them.  They tell if you my
be having an interference problem (maybe a noise source in the
neighborhood, a bad antenna or reflective surface near one of the
antennas, or even a nasty neighborhood hacker with a linear amplifier
or high gain antenna system).

I would also look for updated firmware or drivers.
