Partimage - create an inode?

Hi,
I've just completed a server install using the alternate CD of 6.06.1 (I
tried the actual server iso, but it still hangs at uncompressing the
kernel), I updated my sources and enabled universe so I could install
partimage.
When I run partimage it says something like "/dev/dm inode doesn't
exist" and it tells me a can create it manually using mknod or let
partimage create it now (if I press OK), or the other option is cancel.
I press OK and I must press it four or five times (the same warning
keeps appearing). How can I cure this? After getting through the the
actual program appears to work fine (at least I successfully backed up
and then restored a partition).
Cheers,
Gabe
