Not a Ubuntu but a debian question (Kernel Update Help)

I've got Ubuntu installed but I wanna try the father of Ubuntu. My only
problem is my pcmcia card. Anyone knows how to upgrade from version
2.6.8 to 2.6.17, I need this to get my Debian installation fully
functional.
