Learn from suse install to improve my Ubuntu install?

I know /exactly/ what you mean. ( i let Novell suse me...
for about a week, was all i could handle i'm afraid)

try not to copy configs between teh systems, not healthy.
I suspect (in your case), its the kernel your after. Suse
ships with 2.6.16-blah, while dapper is 2.6.15-blah. that
01 could make all the difference. [1]

[1] on my system, the .15's dont work with my wireless, the
