Actually I do and when I'm feeling particularly lazy I open GNOME in an
xnest and allow it to do its thing. I mostly don't like all the
automagical stuff but once in a while I like to see what it does.
Mainly I use synaptic in IceWM but occasionally use apt-get (update,
upgrade, and dist-upgrade). I don't use aptitude much, I really don't
know why.

The only "intuitive" interface is the nipple. After that, it's all
learned.
