CUPS not printing via ipp: protocol

Nope, none of these work - all give errors.

ipp://debianbox/printers/epson "works" as I explained in my original email - 
the job appears in the queue on both the ubuntu box, and the debian box as 
successfully finished, but still nothing is printed!

Any more suggestions anyone?
