virtual screen resolutions

Hi list,

I have been experimenting a bit with an infinite desktop extension for
Sawfish. However, it's behavior is not entirely what I want (namely, a
way to have lots of windows, mainly terminals, open without overlap
because I hate overlapping windows).

I would like to compare it with X's virtual screen resolutions, since
the panning occurs a lot smoother for one (and it will work better
with interactive placement of windows, which I started using because
I'm always moving windows after they've been automatically placed
anyway... interactive placement just cuts out the middle man).

My question: Does anyone know if it is somehow possible to have
keyboard shortcuts that will allow me to do the desktop panning rather
than being forced into using the mouse? Thus far, searching the web
has gotten me nowhere, since this does not seem to be something that
very many people do.

Thanks,

Mike
