My TV card has a BTTV chipset. Only sound isn't working but I'm looking for a way to get around this issue. One program of the kind you're talking to install the card I don't know. Since I'm a user of Ubuntu and SuSE.

In my case I have an ATI TV Wonder VE card in my machine. Ubuntu
install "just works" for sound and video with this card since Hoary
was released. It is also a BTTV based card. What type of card do you
have? I know graphical tools make everything somewhat easier
(debatable) but if you just google for the card and XOrg you should
find some directions. Ubuntu's pretty great when it comes to hardware
support in xorg and the kernel.
