Ubuntu Dapper (6.06) Install fails on cdrom open, kernel panic -- please help

I've spent ages trying to install it. Nothing helped until...

Tried to use two different CD drives - no success

I have main computer which I used to burn Ubuntu CD. When I
disconnected this CD drive and connected it to this potential Ubuntu
computer and used it to install - it all started. No errors.
