It's hard to see how a Firefox problem would affect Konqueror,
I think it's more likely the problem is
a) upstream of your computer (do you go through another PC to go out?)
b) really some sort of root kit like problem

Set up a brand new user account, fire up Firefox and see if the
problem occurs there too.
That should help pin down if the issue is in your user account, or the
system at larger
(assuming it's not an upstream issue)
