Using Ubuntu absolves the user of personal responsibility?

Remember:
"Give a man a fire and he has warmth for a day, set a man on fire and
he will stay warm for the rest of his life....."
Seriously, I'm a total dunce when it comes to Ubuntu (well....all
things Linux really). I normally search the forums, and Google, for an
answer before I ask a question.
If I'm told to 'use Google' I will reply that I have, and that I didn't
get any good results, I will also usually ask for suggestions on search
terms that would help.
If I'm given a string of meaningless command line commands that will
solve my problem I am very grateful. Although I would prefer to be
told what something means, I like to understand what I'm doing and why
it works.
I think a lot of the problem comes from the way that people perceive
the answers that are given. Although I agree that there are some
people that (probably without realising) give responses that appear
rude/terse, there are a large number of people people that come here
looking for help who will never be happy unless they are spoon fed the
answers.
I've seen posts on other forums where people are more or less demanding
help, and being rude when they don't get an answer in the format that
they want. I'm a trained trainer/facilitator and I know the answer to
their problems, and I know that I can explain it to them in a way that
they will understand. I have (on occasion) ignored these requests for
help, and walked away (figuratively) from the thread - mainly because
their attitude is such that I just can't bring myself to spoon feed
them in the way that they're demanding - I guess that makes me a bad
person?
I think that people sometimes lose sight of the fact that the support
they get here is free. They've got no right to anything, and they're
certainly in no position to demand. People help here because they want
to and because they can, surely you should be grateful for that help in
whatever form it is given? Maybe :)
