Partitioning question

well, this partition is the one you intended to create as your "boot" 
partition (the one that would be mounted on /boot ). It seems not 255M 
size because of the filesystem which take some place. "df" shows you 
only the usable space of your partition (It doesn't count the space 
taken by the filesystem).

For the /boot mount point issue, I think that you made a mistake in the 
install process. could you send your /etc/fstab ?
