Ubuntu 6 network problem

Can you ping the router, or access the router? 

If not then problem is with the laptop, if you can access the router
then you should be able to figure out the settings. 

Are you set up as DHCP or static IP on your laptop?

Check through all your IP settings again on laptop and on the router
(test internet connection through router with another PC if possible)
