ATI video problem

I've been trying the new Dapper beta on a desktop system here. It uses
an Ati Radeon 7500 video card. I have two problems with this, one of
which seems to be unique to Dapper.

First problem is screen offset. This seems to apply to both Dapper and
Hoary, though it is more pronounced in the Dapper beta. The screen is
offset to the right, enough to make the logout button on the right hand
side of the top bar disappear from the screen. This didn't happen with
Hoary running on another system (using a Matrox G200). Can anyone tell
me how to correct the offset (while I can adjust the screen, since I use
multiple machines through a KVM, this means I have to adjust it back for
everything else...).

The second problem seems to be specific to the Dapper beta. While it is
selecting the correct resolution, it seems that it is not selecting the
correct refresh rate. The screen looks as though it is running at much
too low a refresh rate, and is very difficult to use for any length of
time. This problem does not appear when running the live Hoary CD. I
have tried the screen resolution item in preferences, but it does not
seem to help at all. Any suggestions as to how to fix this would be useful.

paul.
