Horrible fonts after latest dist-upgrade (dapper beta)

As an aside here guys, is there a way I can see what programs I installed on
a specific day or do I have to go through all 1000+ packages in Synaptic? I
INSTALLED A PROGRAM AND DON'T SEE IT IN THE MENU AND CAN'T REMEMBER THE
NAME, THANKS.
