I know the feeling well, I'm afraid. I still haven't had any coherent
answer on how to get my Bluetooth phone working with Ubuntu (or any
Linux) such that I can browse its files, copy files to it, etc.
Printing isn't reliable. Multimedia is laughable. And on and on. I
can only help with what meagre knowledge I have at hand.
Now just for clarification, did you install all the packages I listed
earlier (including the GTK and socket ones)? And did you then go to
System->Preferences->SCIM Input Method Setup? If so, let me know what
you've got set up in there. Maybe we can get your system working for
you yet.
