Use crontab ("man -S5 crontab" for details). However, you must use
crontab for root. Here's how you do it. On an xterm, execute the
following:
> sudo crontab -e
You can use the following example an entry on your crontab to shutdown
your computer every 2am.
> # min, hour, day of month, month, day of week, command
> 30      02      *      *      *       /sbin/shutdown -h now
