You consider that a good answer? Plonk away, then, because I rather
doubt anything you would answer with would be helpful at all either.
A good answer? Was the one that said "the server needs to mail messages
somewhere". Instead of fixating on whether it was specifically postfix
that was needed or not, the person who provided that answer recognised,
you know, the actual question. (Hint: If a question begins with "why"
the answer usually begins with some variant of "because" -- direct or
implied.) Focusing on an unimportant detail (postfix vs. any number of
other MTAs) over the actual content of the question (why does it need a
mailer at all -- postfix or otherwise) is purest pedantry.
