Because errors in removal scripts are almost always innocuous, but equally
almost always the fault of the packager.  Yes, it would be nice if Patrick
filed a bug report against the package, but to actually get rid of his
package he only has two options - FIX the script (or wait for the packager
to fix it) or force it.   

--force-* options exist because packages are sometimes broken.  Use them
carefully, but feel free to use them.
