Could you attach a copy of your xorg.log?  I'd like to see it.

I also have an i915 graphics controller with a strange resolution (1366x768).  I 
found that it would not work quite properly until I used ModeLine <-- Note the 
capitol "L". I don't know if it was absolutely necessary, but it didn't work 
properly until I did that.

All that said, recently I tried one of the daily build CDs, and it found the 
correct resolution without any work on my part.

I'm sorry that I can't put a copy of my xorg.conf lines up, but unfortunately at 
the moment, I'm in that evil OS doing my taxes...
