FIXED: Was: Latest updates hose sound playback on left side

I have fixed this just by chance.

For some reason, I had to change the volume on my CD-player in volume control. 
If it is more than 3/5ths of the way up, the left side distorts in my 
headphones. I just moved it a little bit and my sound cleared right up. I have 
*no* idea why, as I'm not playing from cd....

I just wanted to post the solution in case someone else also had this same problem.
