Hello,
Since last update of fontconfig for Dapper, I encounter monospace font
size and rendering issues I failed solve with Thunderbird.
In thunderbird I read the message in fiwed width font.
Before the update. The default 12px monospace font rendered acceptable
size and thickness.
Since fontconfig update, monospace render too small at its _default_ 12px.
I partially found a solution in going to Edit/Preferences/Display/Fonts
and adjusting the fixed width monodspace font to 14px instead of 12px.
The trouble is, it only affect reading messages in iso-8859-1 and
messages encoded in utf-8 still render at 12px.
I could not find a font size setting for utf-8. The pull-down selector
only list language profiles.
One other problem with this last fontconfig update is: Now the default
font settings for fixed width in Thunderbird and Firefox render too
thin, small and ugly. To the point as I think, dealing with font
rendering and size in Lunux, still is a joke and had too few enhancments
since my 7 years Linux experience.
What could I do to fix this fixed width font rendering issue with utf-8
message in Thunderbird?
How can I expect the system default settings for new accounts get proper
rendering as before the update?
Regards,
