There's a new solution on that bug tracking page that worked better for
me.  



In short, edit /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist and comment out the lines
usbmouse and usbkbd as necessary (I had to comment both out --
otherwise only my keyboard or mouse would work), and add in the line:



blacklist usbhid
