I think you are confused about aptitude, synaptic, adept and apt-get.
They are all just front-ends to dpkg, the packaging system.  None of
them are using each other, AFAIK.  At least, aptitude is a totally
separate program from apt-get.  aptitude implements dependency removal,
apt-get, being an older program, does not.
