And come to think of it, you can _so_ like an idea "in principal". It
_does_ mean "primary". You might also say "in chief" - the implication
being that you largely agree with the idea, but you have problems with some
parts of it.
Please never, ever, try to criticize English unless you're a trained
professional. Someone's sure to get hurt.
