It took a while for me to come up with this response:

This act does look a bit like blackmail, but in an act of desperation,
I can't condemn because I do not know what -I- would do when placed
under this circumstance.



This could have been preventable by proper management (ex: Distribute
exclusively by BitTorrent, place announcements saying "HELP!  We can't
hold on for too long!" or something along those lines).
