There are various possible reasons to all cases of unsupported hardware
(I don't know this case in particular) of which the main is: The
manufacturer of the hardware doesn't believe that the people that payed
for the hardware should have the right to know what it is and how it
works, that means, the hardware is privative/propietary, the software
that talks to it is not free as well and making equivalent free software
requires a considerable effort (in the form of reverse engineer) for
which there's not enough man-power/money.
The other case is that there's not enough interest in the community, I
doubt it.
