Apologize.....Root password???

There is no reason to apologize. As Dennis observed earlier, it seems to 
trouble long-time linux users more than anyone else. FWIW, my 
handwritten notes from when I installed Hoary last July include the 
following entry: "WTF??? No root password???" I survived, and so will 
you. Think of it as an initiation rite.
