AIUI, to resize an ext3 filesystem, you remove the journal, shrink it as an ext2 partition, then replace the journal.

I don't know if that works with LVM or not, and even if it does, I don't have a clue how to do it, mind! Hmm. Maybe I should break out my ancient 2.5GB Quantum Fireball EL, and give it a go? :)
