dell 630m suspend

I installed gnome-power-managemen (acpi was already installed). I set it to suspend to ram when closing the lid but it doesnt work and what i get is to turn the screen saver on.
I happened in dell 630m (dell XPS 140 in the us) and a fujitsu-siemens amilo pro.
Any suggestion?
