if gnome-screensaver is installed, the session will always default to it
(xscreensaver isnt integrated into the desktop at all, while g-s-s is
used by gnome-powermanager and is using the gconf system for all
settings) if you want xscreensaver only (and lose powermanagement
integration that way) just uninstall gnome-screensaver and install the
xscreensaver package.
