CD burning - hardware compatibility

Just plug it in.  It'll be fine.  It used to be (before 2.6?) that SCSI 
emulation was required for CD burning, but no more.  The ATAPI driver works.

It is not Ubuntu per se that recognises hardware, it's packages like 
discover and hotplug, together with the modularised kernel, that ensure 
the correct kernel modules get loaded.
