Intel hda sound help - where is alsaconf

I have the same card and it works fine on Breezy (the drivers are not
there on Hoary).
It's a 7.1 sound system. Do you have speakers plugged into all outlets,
or just some of them? I have a pair of speakers plugged into the green
socket on the board. IIRC, not all the mixers sliders are there by
default in the ALSA mixer. I had to enable the one marked 'Front' and
turn this up and enable it.
Just a thought.
