Well I was trying to apply the patch for resume2, to enable hibernation. 

From the look of make menuconfig just about everything in the stock kernel has 
already been enabled as 'compiled in' or 'modules'. Being a Gentoo guy, 
kernels & tinkering just seem to go together !
