I'll mention that typing 'sudo' in a terminal (MS: 'on the command 
line') is the ubuntu way of doing some things as root (MS: 
administrator). But there is a graphic app for keeping up to date. Try 
System > Administration > Ubuntu Update Manager

One problem with it is that when you start it is says 'Your system is 
up-to-date' without actually checking. So remember to click on the 
'reload' button.
