dist-upgrade removes xserver-xorg*

There /is/ this, though:

Preconfiguring packages ...
(Reading database ... 63152 files and directories currently installed.)
Preparing to replace x-common 1.06 (using
.../archives/x-common_1.07_all.deb) ...
Unpacking replacement x-common ...
dpkg: error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/x-common_1.07_all.deb (--unpack):
 trying to overwrite `/usr/lib/X11/fonts', which is also in package xfonts-base
Errors were encountered while processing:
 /var/cache/apt/archives/x-common_1.07_all.deb
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
