I've had that on Xandros on kernel 2.6 (.11, I /think/) with an old
flakey CD rewriter. It knocks the /CD out of action completely for me.
I think it's a hardware problem & plan to replace it, but then, the
system installed from that drive and previously the machine was
running Ubuntu with no problems, including burning to that drive.
