Yep, this happens for me, using nVidia's downloaded 7174 drivers (so I thought that might be the issue, so thanks for this info. I really only use glxgears to tell if my 3d-accel is working (it'll fail to run if it's not), but since I got my nVidia 6600GT I was enjoying seeing 7000+ numbers - not for bragging rights, just to know it's working that much better than my old pci-e ati kard. I'll rerun with this tonight, but after that won't worry as long as my FPS work as I expect them too.
