hotplug freezes on boot, if there are usb devices plugged-in

Hi,

I am using Ubuntu Hoary on HP nx9105 laptop with 2.6.10 Ubuntu kernel
recompiled with ALPS touchpad patch. Everything works more or less,
and I am a happy user for 3 months now. Recently, after I got a
cordless usb mouse (logitech), I noticed that if I plug the wireless
receiver of the mouse to usb, before Ubuntu boots, Ubuntu freezes in
hotplug phase. The keyboard does not work and I have to turn off the
laptop by pressing power-off button. The same happens, when I plug
flash stick. If nothing is in usb slots, Ubuntu boots normally and
plugged devices work normally. Annoying side effect of this freeze, is
that after such reboot, flash sticks does not work. This is what I get
if the flash stick is plugged-in, in the syslog:
Sep 22 11:59:54 localhost kernel: usb 3-3: new high speed USB device
using ehci_hcd and address 5
Sep 22 11:59:54 localhost kernel: usb 3-3: device descriptor read/64, error -71
Sep 22 11:59:54 localhost kernel: usb 3-3: device descriptor read/64, error -71
Sep 22 11:59:54 localhost kernel: usb 3-3: new high speed USB device
using ehci_hcd and address 6
Sep 22 11:59:54 localhost kernel: usb 3-3: device descriptor read/64, error -71

The solution then is to power off the laptop, wait for a few minutes
and turn it on again. After that everything works fine. Strangely
cordless usb mouse is working fine in this situation.

So what could be done to solve this problem? Maybe in Breezy it is
already solved? Ask for any details needed.

Thanks in advance for any help.
