Hi,

how are you trying to install it, from console (terminal by apt-get or
aptitude) or from Synaptic? Either way, check that there's no other process
of installing software running, like it says in the error message. If that's
not the case, go to the directory (/var/lib/dpkg/) and check if there's a
file named 'lock', remove it if there is.

Then try again.
