upgrade the preview until the stable version is released.

The X Server is stable, it was udev that broke. The preview (in the
package selection that was released) is quite stable; you might consider
suggesting that the preview should not prompt for upgrades until the
final version is released, but I doubt it would be easily implementable.

Either downgrade to udev 0.060-1ubuntu12 or run
sudo /etc/init.d/udev restart
sudo /etc/init.d/gdm restart
