Missing Repository Packages?

Hello! My first posting to this list..

I am new to linux. I have updated my sources.list file to include the
universe/backports etc.
I am unable to find some packages. In particular, the Java runtime
environment. I get the following:

raph at ubuntu:~$ sudo apt-get install sun-j2re1.5
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree... Done
E: Couldn't find package sun-j2re1.5
raph at ubuntu:~$

Can anyone help? I can provide my sources.list if required but I think
its Ok. And I have run the  sudo apt-get update.
