Getting acquainted with Ubuntu Breezy 5.10. Emacs is giving me some 
problems. I have been using emacs for many, many years, on many 
installations. My .emacs.el file is of great age. It has given me no serious 
problems that I don't understand, and could not fix easily. However, this 
time I am experiencing rather unusual behavior. 

Can someone indicate whether any bizaare tweaks have been made to this 
ubuntu customized version of emacs21? 

Interesting: OS X has emacs on board out of the box, at least a no-X 
version; Ubuntu and Mepis to not. Go figure.
