CPU usage at 100% when playing avi files?

Video playback acceleration goes back to the days of win95 and ati mach64 
cards, so you shouldn't have any major problem there.  Motion compensation is 
a more recent development, but unless Rage XLs are older than I think they 
are, they should be fine with that too.  Much more likely that your 
configuration isn't quite right.
