How do I edit labels for a fat-32 (or vfat) partition

Woot! I can do it with the mlabel command. Now if only I could figure out 
how to access the drives using mtools... any quick clues? I tried skimming 
the mtools online doc, which doesn't describe the process, and instead just 
lists the various commands available.
